Hey Montgomery County Parks and Rec!

The pieces shown below were either painted directly from life at Rotary Park, or were inspired by my memories of visits. I've added captions to each painting to give a little more context to each.

Happy looking!

Through the Creekbed

This piece was created from memory, and it doesn't represent any specific location along the creek. The experience of people walking along the creekbed has made an impression on me many times over the years, and that's what I was seeking to capture here. The dappled sunlight striking the ground, the thrill of jumping from rock to rock - those moments are very memorable to me.

I originally painted this scene directly from life, sitting next to the ADA Creekside trail, in April of 2026. This is a larger, studio version of that original piece.

Last Day of March

I painted this alongside the ADA Creekside Trail, on the forest side, not the creek side. This was a beautiful day, and I finished this painting in one session. The sunlit trail is visible in the painting.

Springtime Canopy at Rotary Park

Springtime Canopy at Rotary Park
gouache on paper, 9" x 12"

I painted this in April of 2026, alongside the road, where it goes uphill before reaching the playground and Nature Center. I love tree canopies and how they capture and refract light.
